Have Your Say on Plans for Chesham
Chiltern District Council has launched a consultation on the Preferred Green Belt Options to be taken forward in the Local Plan to help meet development needs in the area. This includes a site to the North East of Chesham.
The consultation is running until 5pm on the 12th December 2016. The Council wants your views in order to:
- help understand the suitability of the selected sites for development
- understand views on what type of development should be sought and what type of requirements should be secured as part of development
- provide the opportunity for additional options to be put forward
Chiltern District Council are hosting an exhibition at Chesham Town Hall (HP5 1DS) on Saturday 5th November from 2-5pm. The main areas of focus for this exhibition will be Chesham, Chesham Bois and Ashley Green. The exhibition is also available to view at Chiltern District Council offices in Amersham during normal working hours.
The Chesham Society is of the view that there is no need for loss of Green Belt and that new development can be accommodated in Chesham by the long-term development of the Town Centre. This will involve reusing old industrial sites and the mixed use of sites currently only used for parking, whilst increasing available car park numbers. The Chesham Society will be mounting an exhibition in the Town Hall at the same time on the 5th November, to show the progress with their vision of Chesham. It will therefore be possible to view both exhibitions on the same day.
To find out more about the Preferred Green Belt Options, including a presentation video and details of exhibitions elsewhere in the district, please visit the Chiltern District Council web site.
