Changes to Pothole and Streetlight Reporting

As from 1st February, the County Council is encouraging all residents and Parish Councils to use its online reporting system to make them aware of potholes and defective street lights.

Significant improvements have been made to this tool which allows customers to receive updates direct to their inbox on how the council is resolving the issue. If a customer who phones in feels that a pothole or streetlight defect presents a risk of serious injury, they will be put through to the council’s Emergency Team.

In addition, online ‘contact us’ forms have been created on the County Council’s website, making it easier to deal with enquiries. These forms will direct people to the appropriate page to assist them, alternatively there is a general enquiry form to complete if they cannot find the answer or page they are looking for. The forms are designed to gather the appropriate information required to answer enquiries at the first point of contact as they ensure all the necessary information has been logged right from the start. Currently many emails sent to the council contain incomplete information, causing delays in response.

From 1st March, residents and parish councils will only be able to contact the council for Transport for Bucks-related queries via the Transport for Buckinghamshire online Contact us form, our Online Reporting System or telephone. These upgrades are part of a wider plan to improve the customer experience for residents and parish councils. John Chilver, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “These new online forms will save residents and parish councils time, by preventing delays due to missing information, while also allowing them to track the progress of their report. They will also save the council thousands of pounds, as it is much cheaper to respond to web forms than emails or phone calls.”
