Awards Now Open For Chesham's Heroes!

2015 Award Winner Stirling Maguire

We're asking for your help to discover Chesham’s community heroes. We are calling for nominations for this year's Mayoral Awards, which celebrate local people and businesses that make a real difference to Chesham, its people and its environment.

There are two award categories. Town Mayor, Cllr Noel Brown explained, “The People’s Award is open to people of any age who have done something good for Chesham; that could be all sorts of things, such as volunteering for a charity, helping an elderly neighbour, or getting young people involved in sport. Chesham is full of people who quietly get on with helping each other out; it would be wonderful if they could be recognised with this award.” The People’s Award is sponsored by The Buckinghamshire Examiner, and the winner will receive £150 towards the charity or project of their choice.

The Business Award is open to businesses and retail outlets that contribute to community and environmental projects or through charitable/volunteering work. The Business Award is sponsored by the Chiltern Chamber and the winning business will receive a specially engraved trophy.

The prizes will be awarded at the Annual Town Meeting on the 11th May, which is open to the public and is always a very enjoyable celebration of some of Chesham’s best volunteers.

The nomination process is quick and simple, requiring you to fill in a short form. You can pick one up from the Town Hall, or download one here: People's Award Form (Word, 798 KB) and Business Award Form (Word, 837 KB). The deadline is Friday 11th March. The great news is that you get two bites of the cherry from your one application, as applications are also automatically entered into the Pride of Bucks Awards! Cllr Brown said, “During my time as Mayor, I have been inspired by some of the tremendous examples of citizenship I have seen. Please consider spending a couple of minutes to make a nomination so that the town can say thank-you to these special people.”
